What to expect at a resident station
- Hours vary by location. Unlike field offices, which follow consistent Mon–Fri schedules, resident stations may operate only 2–3 days per week or on specific dates. Check the hours listed for each location before visiting.
- Appointments are required. Walk-ins are not accepted. Call the phone number listed or visit ssa.gov to schedule before making the trip.
- Services are the same as a field office. Staff can help with retirement, disability, Medicare enrollment, replacement Social Security cards, and benefit verification.
- Some issues may be resolved remotely. SSA staff may direct you to handle certain requests online at ssa.gov or by calling 1-800-772-1213 rather than visiting in person.
Always call ahead before visiting a resident station. Hours are part-time and subject to change. The phone number listed connects to the administering field office, which can confirm current hours and available appointment slots.
